We don’t want to brag, but here at Spirit Halloween, we know how to party. And it’s time to celebrate the Superbowl! The 52nd Superbowl will be played in Minneapolis, on February 4th, 2018. Your Superbowl party should make your guests feel like they’re really there, watching it live—Except it’s really cold in Minneapolis, so make sure that you have the heat on at your party.

When it comes to a Superbowl party, there are two really important things that you need to cover:

  1. The game is displayed on a large enough TV, loud enough for the room to hear, and with no obstacles in the way of the entire viewing area.
  2. Food.

It’s pretty simple, honestly. We’ll let you figure out how you’re going to show the game, but we’ll give you some tips on touchdown-worthy treats for the big day.

First Quarter – Oldies But Goodies

We don’t care what anyone says… Everyone loves a classic chip and pretzel here and there. Fill up bowls (maybe football-shaped to really match the theme) with chips and pretzels and let your guests chow down. This is the perfect way to curb everyone’s appetite before bringing out more exciting appetizers. Chips and pretzels are sort of expected at a party, so don’t disappoint in the first quarter!

Second Quarter – Comfort Foods

Whether your team made it to the big game or not, everyone is rooting for someone. We find it really helpful to have comfort food available, so, in the instance that someone’s team is losing, they can feel as though the fried mozzarella stick is hugging them in their time of need. Also, who doesn’t like mozzarella sticks? Add some French fries, onion rings or even buffalo wings to the mix, and your friends will be more than content!

Half-Time Show

It’s HALF-TIME! You know what that means? It’s time to bring out the good stuff. Some people really love the half-time show, but this is a great time for you to bring out the main course. It’s really up to you what you want to serve to your guests, but it’s important that you remember that you’re not having a fancy dinner party that calls for filet mignon and lobster tail. Your guests will be grateful to have a place to watch the game and eat some food. Here are a few suggestions for simple and easy meals that will have your guests enjoying the second half of the game with a full belly.

  • Crock Pot Recipes: Cooking in a crock pot is one of the easiest, most delicious ways to feed your guests. You’re going to have a lot do to the day of the party, and a crock pot basically does the cooking for you. You can cook almost ANYTHING in a crock pot: Chicken, pork, roast, pasta, stuffed peppers, dip, meatballs… ANYTHING.
  • Hoagie Subs & Hot Sandwiches: Another easy option that doesn’t really require you to do much of anything except order and pick up. (Also, you can get these things delivered from your local pizza shop or deli, meaning even LESS work for you!) Get a couple of hoagies and hot sandwiches, cut them up into single sized portions, and put them on a tray. BOOM! Dinner is served. The cool thing about this is that you’ll be giving your guests options; they’ll never have to settle!
  • Pizza Party: Sports = Pizza. It’s that simple.

Like we said, what you want to serve your guests is completely up to you, we just wanted to give you a few options.

Third Quarter – TOO FULL

Don’t even worry about the third quarter, your guests are going to be so full and this is the perfect time for you to get your fourth quarter desserts prepared! Let your guests slip into their skin suits, or other colored clothing and represent their team in the second half! But, just in case someone is feeling a little rumble in their tummy, refill the chips and pretzels!

Fourth Quarter – The Sweetest of them all

Now that you’ve filled your friends stomachs with only the best Superbowl food, it’s time to tickle their sweet tooth. If you want to get a little bit more creative, dessert is the perfect place to do this. You can create little treats that look like footballs, or decorate cupcakes based on the team colors in the big game! Here are a few of our favorite sweet treats:

  • Cupcakes: Decorate the cupcakes based on the two teams in the game, and let the fans pick their favorites, or you can make the icing look like little footballs! Just use some chocolate icing, and add white icing lines to create laces.
  • Cookie Trays: You can either bake your own, or display a store bought cookie tray! Cookie trays are the perfect option because your guests can have multiple cookies to choose from (kind of like the hoagie tray we mentioned above… just sweeter.)
  • Donuts: I know that this is normally a morning thing, but you’d be surprised how much people LOVE donuts. Get a few dozen, a few different kinds, and just like that, dessert is served.
  • Ice Cream Sundaes: Did someone say, “Create your own ice cream sundae?” Provide your guests will all of the makings for the perfect ice cream sundae, and they’ll be in heaven. You can even provide colors that match the teams, so the sundaes are just as festive as the party itself. This is perfect for your guests, and all you have to do it set up and clean up – serving is all on them!
  • Cake and Pie: This is a good mixture because sometimes people love cake and hate pie, or love pie and hate cake. They can’t complain with both options at their fingertips!

There you have it! The perfect Superbowl party! Show us what you did for the Superbowl by emailing spiritblog@spirithalloween.com! We can’t wait to see what you came up with.
