March 10th is National Mario Day! Get it? Because MAR10 looks just like Mario? Ha! Get in the spirit by throwing the ultimate Super Mario party for all of your gamer friends.
Dress Up
Nothing will pump you up for a day of racing and gaming quite like dressing as your favorite Mario Bros. characters. Put on a full costume to look like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, or even Bowser or keep it simple by wearing red and green hats and stick-on mustaches. If neither of those options is quite your style, try on a Mario or Luigi Sunstache! People may mistake you for the popular characters as soon as you put either one of these on. The hat, glasses, and stylish ‘stache will instantly transform your look and have you ready to go!
Play Games
What kind of Super Mario party is it without playing video games? Play any version you want, like Super Mario, Mario Party, Donkey Kong, or even bring out the classic Mario Kart. Want to take your party to the next level? Hook up another TV and gaming system so that more people can take turns playing at the same time.
If you don’t have a gaming system you can use, try playing Pin the Mustache on Mario! It has the exact same rules and objective as Pin the Tail on the Donkey, so everyone should pick up how to play pretty quickly.
Eat Snacks
Everyone’s going to work up an appetite pretty quickly from all of the excitement, so make sure you have tons of snacks for them to munch on! Full gourmet dinners are not necessary to have at such a laid-back gathering, but brightly colored finger foods and desserts will always be a hit. Cupcakes with red and green icing are easy to whip up or pick up in a store, but if you want to get really creative, try putting a handful of green grapes on a skewer with a single strawberry on top. This snack will resemble the piranha plants in the game! Extra points if you decorate your snack table with question blocks and gold stars!
Give Favors
Handing out favors is always optional, but it’s a nice way to thank those who came to your awesome Super Mario Party! A quick and easy favor is filling a baggie with gold coins. But if you want to get really creative again, repurpose some small cardboard boxes you have sitting around and print out a template to turn them into question blocks. Fill those with a handful of chocolate gold coins, and each of your guests will walk away as winners!
Now that you know what it takes to throw a super Mario party, get to it! Everyone will admire your attention to detail and will have a blast playing games all night. Princess Peach is waiting!
