Black Panther was released in theaters on February 16th, 2018, and needless to say,  it was AMAZING. The film made $235 million on opening weekend and is expected to make waaaaay more than that in the upcoming weeks.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you should go RIGHT NOW. You should also stop reading this post because there are SPOILERS ahead. We repeat: The post you are reading contains spoilers for Black Panther. This is your last warning: Stop reading if you DO NOT want to read Black Panther spoilers.

We could give you a full summary of the entire film, but we’re going to hone in on four of our favorite parts instead. Here are four reasons why we LOVED Black Panther:

  1. The Suit
T’Challa’s little sister, Shuri, knew exactly what she was doing when she created the perfect suit for the king. The Vibranium suit that she created for her brother was stored fully in the chain-tooth necklace and trapped kinetic energy, allowing him to use it on his enemies. The black suit would light up in the coolest shade of purple when it was “fully charged” with kinetic energy, and BOOM! He’d use it to beat his opponents. The suit seems to be a lot more high-tech than most of the characters in the Marvel Universe, which really just makes it that much cooler. Shuri seems like a genius, and maybe she’ll build herself a suit one day soon? Are we predicting a possible spin-off? Hey, Marvel: Give us some hints!
  1. The Villain
So, I’m sure everyone thought that Ulysses Klaue would be the villain of the hour, and then here comes Marvel with a plot twist! Everyone loves a good villain, and Killmonger (played by Michael B. Jordan) is one of the best villains in the Marvel Universe thus far. His troublemaking and condescending attitude had us totally hating him. Isn’t that what a good villain is supposed to do? You could see the anger he held for Black Panther, blaming him for the death of his father, and striving to take over the throne and make the tribe his very own. We were rooting for T’Challa, who does end up beating him, of course, but we were nervous for a second!
  2. The Action
What’s a Marvel movie without action-packed fight scenes? Black Panther was filled with action, and showed Marvel Universe fans exactly what they were looking for. From high-speed car chases to magnificent stunts, the Black Panther action scenes were everything we could have asked for. Every fight scene had us on the edge of our seats, just waiting to see what would happen next. If we had to pick our favorite, it would be the casino fight scene. The fight included T’Challa, Nakia, and Okoye. It felt like an old-time action film filled with gun shots, stunts, money and, of course, communication between the three characters. The action was filmed in one long take, which showed everything from a certain perspective, instead of numerous cut scenes.
  3. The Post-Credit Scenes
Post-credit scenes are everything when it comes to the Marvel Universe, and lucky for us we had TWO OF THEM. You heard us right: Two post-credit scenes! The first one featured T’Challa, Okoye, and Nakia visiting the United Nations. T’Challa is announcing that he wants to share Wakanda’s technology and no longer have Wakanda be an isolated country. This is heartwarming because that’s what Nakia wanted all along. Ah, they’re so sweet. So in love. The second scene features Shuri and Bucky (Winter Soldier) in Wakanda. This is HUGE for everyone who’s excited about Infinity War and for everyone who loved Captain America: Civil War. We don’t want to spoil the entire scene for you, but make sure you see the movie and stay until the very end!

So, there you have it: Four reasons why we loved Black Panther. We know that we said we’d only mention four things, but we have a few honorable mentions. Here are three additional things we totally loved about the film:

  • Sterling K. Brown: He’s in the movie! The actor who’s stealing hearts all over the world made an appearance, and it was perfect!
  • GIRL POWER: The Dora Milaje, an elite group that serves the king and Wakanda consists of only women!
  • Wakanda: What a beautiful place. Everything about it was gorgeous.
