It’s been nearly three years since the release of Stranger Things Season 3, and we can barely contain our excitement for Stranger Things Season 4! Anticipation has grown with the release of the Season 4 posters, teasers, and more recently, the official trailer, so let’s dive into what most excites us about the release of the new season!
The Season Has Two Parts
The first exciting news for Stranger Things fans is that Season 4 is split into two volumes! The first volume drops on May 27th with 7 episodes, and the second volume drops on July 1st with 2 episodes. Stranger Things fans can expect nearly twice as much content as they did in Season 3! This is a particular treat since there was such a long wait between Season 3 and Season 4.
The Characters Split Up
At the end of season 3, Joyce, Will, Jonathan, and Eleven begin relocating to the west coast for their safety, leaving Hawkins behind. Joyce is taking care of Eleven after Chief Jim Hopper’s disappearance at the end of Season 3. This leaves Dustin, Lucas, Max, Nancy, Mike, Steve, and Robin in Hawkins. Stranger Things always splits its characters into interesting groups, and this season appears to do the same.
The Characters Evolve
With the release of the trailers for Season 4, we see brief glimpses of how the characters have continued their lives. Lucas has started playing basketball for the Hawkins High team, Dustin and Mike join the high school’s D&D club called Hellfire Club, and Will and Eleven attend a new school together and attempt to build normal lives.
Max
Tantalizing tidbits in the official posters and trailers have us excited to see what’s going on with Max. Her voice narrates a portion of the trailer and she is seen floating off the ground in the official trailer?! What do you think we can expect from Max?
Mysterious Scenes from The Trailer
What about the creepy clock shown in the first moments of the trailer? The clock is one of the first things we see and then we see it again, embedded in a wall. What importance will the clock have in this new season?
And, what is that house?! The trailer makes it appear that our Hawkins characters end up inside this house, but why? What are they looking for?
Hopper’s Alive
We can all breathe a sigh of relief because we see Hopper in the official trailer for Season 4. This confirms that he survived the explosion at the end of Season 3, and rewards committed fans who noticed the possible clue at the end of that season. We can’t wait to see what Hopper is caught up in and how it plays out.
Vecna
Finally, it wouldn’t be a Stranger Things season without the introduction of a new mysterious evil. Season 1 presented the Demogorgon, Season 2 introduced the Demodogs and Season 3 saw our characters struggle to overcome the Mindflayer. In the trailer, we see a new villain whose name was confirmed to be Vecna.
Is Vecna another manifestation of the evil forces that inhabit the Upside Down, trying to enter our characters’ world? Is it Vecna’s voice we hear at the start of the trailer? When we finally see it in the last seconds of the trailer, it appears to be a monstrous, almost-human entity.
We’re on the edge of our seats in anticipation, so as we all prepare for the release of Volume 1 on May 27th, make sure you tag us on social media @spirithalloween and let us know what excites you the most about Stranger Things Season 4.
